About the author

Margaret has been writing for over 35 years. She started writing in the late 1970s because she wanted to see if she could put a whole story down on paper. That book is still in the drawer and will never see the light of day. But she was able to finish a book, which was her goal.
She decided after that to get some help, and joined a writers' roundtable where she met once a week with some fellow writers who went over each other's work. She sold her first book in the early 1980s and has been selling ever since. She loves to tell a story. When she was a little girl she made up stories while playing with her dolls. On long trips with her family she would weave a story about the surrounding countryside. From those early beginnings grew a love of entertaining people with a story. She has sold nearly 5 million books worldwide with over 90 books.
When she went away to college, she met her husband, Mike, to whom she has been married for over 40 years. He is her support and her best friend. She has always felt she was the luckiest woman the day she bumped into him on campus.
When they married, they moved to Tulsa, where she finished her degree in special education and began teaching. She loved teaching and working with students with special needs. They helped her remember what is important in life. She also participated in the Special Olympics as a coach with her students and has attended the State Games in May for years. Recently she retired from teaching to write full-time.
Besides teaching and writing, she is also a mother of one. Her son, Shaun, loves animals and there have been times they could have their own zoo at the house. The most interesting pet Shaun had is a leopard tortoise, which could outlive him. She has joked that his children will be inheriting a tortoise. He is married with four daughters.
When she isn't working, she loves to read, travel, and go to lunch and a movie with a friend. She has been to many countries in the world and loves to meet new people. Her favorite place is Tahiti -- Bora Bora. It is as beautiful as all the pictures portray it.
In her travels she has found herself in some interesting situations. Once, in London, she got caught in the middle of a protest that later turned into a riot over poll taxes. In the rain forest of Costa Rica, she was covered from head to toe in mud and ruined a perfectly good outfit. She should have remembered it was going to be wet since it was called a rain forest. In Rio, she and a friend were left with no means to get back to the hotel on the other side of the city. Neither Margaret nor her companion spoke Portuguese and there wasn't a cab in sight. Thankfully one finally pulled up to the curb at the museum because she couldn't see herself hiking across Rio to get back to the hotel at night.

Samantha Prince the owner of The Purple Ink, a successful bookstore in New Orleans, has never considered herself adventurous. She has never been any where. That all changes when she receives a frantic call from her brother Mark asking her to send him money in Brazil. When the money is returned unclaimed, she drops everything and heads off to find him. She meets a man who envisions her every literary fantasy man. Brock Slader, after failing to convince Samantha to go home, agrees to aid her in her search for Mark. Samantha encounters more adventure than she ever imagined when she and Brock are chased through the unmerciful jungle by headhunters looking to take their heads and gunmen wanting to take their lives and the treasure they seek.
Samantha grows into her own self through this adventure and it is a delight to watch her morph from a cocoon of a shy reticent book shop homebody to a confident, independent woman ready to take on the world and win. Brock learns that depending on no one can leave you lonely in a sea of people. Their love depends on Brock's skill and Samantha's trust. Only time will tell they or their love can survive their adventure. If they make it out alive what will be the cost?
Once you open the story you will be pulled in unable to put it down. The courage shown by the main characters will gain your admiration, as well as will the talent of Margaret Daley. With over 80 novels behind her Ms. Daley is a prolific author who has brought many hours of reading pleasure to those who have enjoyed her talent. If you have not read any of Ms. Daley's work before then you are in for a treat. "Dangerous Pursuit" is only the first in her "The Protectors" series. After devouring book 1, you will be able to download books 2 and 3, "Dangerous Interlude" and "Dangerous Paradise" immediately to continue your reading pleasure. Sneak hint : each story is a wonderful adventure that tugs at your heart even as it makes it pound at the danger faced in the stories. Pick up your copy today and let the adventure begin.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 31, 2013Samantha Price loves her comfortable, organized lifestyle in New Orleans. As a bookstore owner, she loves finding adventure in many of the books she stocks on her shelves. That is, until she receives a desperate phone call from her brother asking her to wire him some money to get out of Brazil. When he doesn't pick up the money, she decides to go search for him. She realizes very quickly she's in big trouble. How can she find her brother when she doesn't know her way around or the language. Brock Slader comes to her rescue at the hotel and, though she's not sure she can trust him, she finally convinces him to be her guide. No amount of adventure books could have prepared Samantha for the things she would face. Most especially a trip through the Amazon with an imposing man like Brock. Brock and Samantha try to keep things strictly business but being in an untamed jungle has a way of changing a person.
Cover to cover, 'Dangerous Pursuit' treats the reader to an adventure through the Amazon Jungle. You'll find lots of danger, suspense and, of course, romance. It was great getting to know Brock and Samantha who were both alive with personality. The interaction between them was fun and full of romantic tension. Opposites attract, certainly rang true in this story. Though this isn't billed as Christian fiction, I would describe it as clean but edgy. If you've read 'Deadly Race' by this author, you'll know what I mean. The Protectors is a new series by Margaret Daley and I am looking forward to the next installment, Dangerous Interlude.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 10, 2014Another great story by Margaret Daley. Samantha (Sam) Prince is happy and content as the owner of a bookstore in New Orleans. She is not the adventurous type like her brother Mark. That is until she gets a call from Mark in Brazil. He’s in big trouble and needs some money right away, but tells her that if anything happens, he hid something valuable at the Para Mission. When he doesn’t pick up the money Samantha sends, she’s on a plane within 48 hours (totally out of character for her) and heads to Manaus, Brazil to find her brother. Mark is no longer at the Grand Hotel (a dump by most standards) and she can’t communicate with the hotel clerk or anyone else since she doesn’t speak Portuguese and they don’t speak English. In steps our hero, Brock Slader. He helps interpret and spends one day trying to find Mark, but he keeps telling her he “doesn’t rescue damsels in distress.” Famous last words. As Sam and Brock go into the Amazon jungle of Brazil searching for Mark, or at least to find what he hid at the Para Mission, trouble is all they find. Imagine a stay-at-home girl like Sam, who lives a very quiet life, learning how to deal with poisonous snakes, headhunters, and dangerous men with guns who want to kill them. That doesn’t include the two situations where Brock has to save Sam’s life. There is an almost-instant romantic connection between Brock and Samantha, but there is no sex in this story, just a few passionate kisses. Brock is the kind of man any woman would love to fall in love with—adventuresome, strong, capable of handling any crisis, yet also gentle. However, they want different things from life—Brock moves from place to place and doesn’t want to do the 9-5 job thing again. Sam wants to live quietly, running her bookstore, although she does some changing through her jungle experiences. See how our hero and heroine finally get together in the end. I was given a copy of this book to read and review. I would certainly recommend it to everyone. I can hardly wait to read the next two books in this series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good one.
There's a good long thread of suspense in this book that runs all the way upto the end. Feel the book could have expanded around it even more, throwing in more adventure.
